Welcoming Artist Thomas Sinclair

Canvas Gallery is excited to introduce Thomas Sinclair who recently joined us. A First Nations artist, Thomas is from Sault Ste. Marie and he has brought us 3 beautiful new pieces. Each piece tells us a wonderful story, and we're in love with his style, vibrant colours & subject matter.

Thomas is wearing his own beadwork, leatherwork and headdress that he created himself, a truly talented artist and rightly proud of his heritage. He also illustrates gorgeous adult colouring books.

"The human is mid transformation, going from young man, to a powerful shaman. The spirit of the bear carries the burden of the powerful medicine In the pipe on his behalf. The last remaining part of the human being is completely connected to the strawberry. Ode’imin. The heart berry."

"She holds the entrance to sacredness. She is Mother Earth. Her heart berry(the Ojibway translation for strawberry) nourishes all living beings, both plant and animal. She has her hand up and she looks skyward in gratitude."
