Canvas Gallery's Megan Less featured in Women's Post Magazine

Congratulations to the lovely Co-Owner/Director of Canvas Gallery (and you couldn't ask for a better boss, I promise you!) Megan Less, who was recently featured in the June/July issue of Women's Post for her success in bringing her vision of a comfortable and client friendly art gallery to life, featuring quality works from over 100 highly talented emerging and established artists from across the country.

When she was 12 years old, Megan decided that she wanted to work in the film industry.
“I just loved the experience of movies.” But for her, “it was more about the set design than about the movies.”

This dream led to a successful career in set decorating, working on the set of Queer as Folk and The Virgin Suicides with director Sofia Coppola. After the birth of her son, Megan decided to pursue another dream: opening an art gallery.

Working in set design provided Megan with a unique perspective on Toronto’s art world.
“I found buying art in Toronto very frustrating as a set decorator,” she says, explaining that you can’t view past showpieces or what’s available in the back room.

With these experiences in mind, Megan and her husband Mark opened the Canvas Gallery and feature Canadian art from 100 artists from across Canada. At any given time, 100 or more pieces are displayed on the wall and the stock is constantly rotating; there are usually 1,200 pieces in the gallery.

Megan and Mark work with clients and designers to find the perfect pieces for their spaces, even allowing clients to take the pieces they love home to ensure they’re the right fit.

“Art should make you happy. It should spark conversation. It should create warmth and it should give character,” Megan explains.
